The deadline for applying for refurbishment grants through the Better Youth Spaces fund has been extended by almost a month, to midnight on 21 September. The deadline for spending any refurbishment funding has also been extended, allowing more time for organisations to both apply and complete the work.
Better Youth Spaces aims to bring fast paced benefits to youth organisations and the young people they work with, with £30.5m of funding available. The Fund will support small scale-capital projects of £5k-£100k, including capital equipment, small refurbishments and other capital projects. Better Youth Spaces was launched by the Prime Minister on Wednesday 6 August, and is being administered by Social Investment Business.
With today’s extension, the application deadline for both capital equipment and refurbishments is now midnight on Sunday 21 September. An additional month has also been added for evidencing expenditure for refurbishments, allowing youth organisations to deliver the improvements and submit their spending evidence by the end of February 2026.
Rob Benfield, Director of Investments at Social Investment Business, said:
“We’re pleased to be able to extend this opportunity for youth organisations following the summer holidays and deliver grant funding that will enable better spaces for local young people across England. The new deadlines will allow more organisations to access the funding and ensure groups have additional time to refurbish their spaces.”
Better Youth Spaces funding is available to not-for-profit youth organisations in 42 priority areas, selected by the government based on the Income Deprivation Affecting Children Index (IDACI) at upper tier local authority level.
The Fund is now open for applications for refurbishments and equipment until midnight on Sunday 21st September. Please note the fund could still close earlier if it becomes heavily oversubscribed.
