Due to our strong track record we have delivered successful programmes for various UK Government departments and have excellent ties across the charity and social enterprise sector.
“Investment into social enterprises can play an important role in our long-term economic plan as well as in addressing the toughest social issues. I congratulate Santander, Big Society Capital and the Social Investment Business in developing this fund, and would hope to see other High Street banks following their lead."
George Osborne, then Chancellor of the Exchequer speaking about the launch of a fund we invested in - the Third Sector Loan Fund.
Department of Culture Media and Sport (DCMS) / Cabinet Office
We managed several funds for the Cabinet Office before the transfer of the Office for Civil Society to DCMS.
This included the £145m Futurebuilders programme, one of the founding pillars of UK social investment, the Investment and Contract Readiness Fund (ICRF), which provided £13m worth of grants to help 155 charities and social enterprises raise investment and/or win contracts and the Impact Readiness Fund which offered grants to charities and social enterprises to help them improve their impact measurement.
Department of Health
We manage the Social Enterprises Investment Fund (SEIF) on behalf of the Department of Health. This fund provided £98m of loans and grants to 650 social enterprises working in the health and social care sector.
Department of Communities and Local Government (DCLG)
We delivered the Communitybuilders fund on behalf of DCLG. This fund offered grant and loan finance to community-focused organisations in England and provided £70m to support local services and facilities. The fund was endowed to us in 2011.
Big Lottery Fund
We manage Big Potential, a £20m investment readiness grant fund, on behalf of the Big Lottery Fund. We also work with Big Lottery Fund Scotland to provide direct support to charities and social enterprises in the region.
Access - The Foundation for Social Investment
We manage the Reach Fund, a two year £4m grant fund that is testing a new model for investment readiness support. We are also a delivery partner on the Impact Management Programme, which aims to build the capacity of charities and social enterprises so that they can better manage their impact.
We are a core partner in UnLtd's Big Venture Challenge, a match funding co-investment scheme to support ambitious social entrepreneurs which has made over £4.25m in grants and leveraged over £8.3m in external investment.
Social and Sustainable Capital (SASC)
SASC is an FCA authorised and regulated fund manager that provides loans and equity investment to charities and social enterprises.
We have invested our own money into SASC and the funds that they manage, including the Third Sector Loan Fund which we helped catalyse. We work together to deliver a broad and complimentary range of financing options to help you achieve more impact.
CAN is a registered charity trading as a social enterprise that helps other charities and social ventures thrive and grow by addressing three key barriers, Premises, Skills & Finance.
We are working closely with CAN on new projects and are housed in their charity office space at their CAN Mezzanine at Borough.
